Still a little groggy from an insanely fun weekend....wait did we have a rain episode to end the weekend? Were people taking the stage with a band? Did a cart almost kill one of us? Did we invite Luigi the Mario Brother? Just another haze of a weekend where I find myself sitting with a goofy smile stuck on my now shaved face, thinking about another funny thing that went on. Just epic fun! Thanks boys for bringing it!
I'll have a final update later this week as well as the final official tally of the Matches, member Unofficially, it's at 55.5 - 44.5.

Everything's ready, right? Got the extra sweatshirt? Looks like everything's in the 50s and 60s. Got umbrella and rain pants? Sunday might have some precipitation to work through? Get that fresh box of rocks....you probably won't need 'em since it's really hard to lose a ball on the Cape. Got the chapstick....you ain't borrowing mine, bruv. Got the extra skivvies? You should...it's the Cape!
Two short sleeps (actually 4 for Beaner with his work naps) remain until the latest saga unfolds. Hell of a lead off match with Timmy O & Bal vs. PCarr and Con-man Cloot. I'm working to get the tee flip listed on FanDuel...who you got?
Give yourself a couple of extra minutes to get to Dennis Highlands, our 1st course....it's a little further than our opening courses of the past. Tee times start at 9:06. They do have a driving range.

Just a sidenote based on what the forecast is telling us....we may be rescheduling the picnic to Saturday afternoon after play. Tom and I are going to make the call on this Friday. Stinks to have to move it because it's such a great fit on Sunday, but we'll do what we need to in order to fit it in.

Outstanding work done by our Captains in selecting and revealing who will be facing who next Friday. There's some interesting matches to say the least. Lee with Don in a Bramble? Don could shoot 80! We've got the Silent Assassins Tirrell & Webster ready to guillotine a couple of dudes. Don't sleep on that 7th Match with Atko/Fanion trying to deal with Colin and Sully. Hope you're all getting your swings in this week...your Captains are expecting it!

We're down to 10 Sleeps according to my calculations....how's your game boys? You sure it's good enough? Did you peak too soon? We're going to find out!
Captain Kelleher of The Idiots got things off an running with an awesome opening salvo throwing out his his and Captain Webster's initial pairing. Could Carr/CCloutier become the next McIlroy/Lowry? We shall see!
Meanwhile, we've got a nice distraction happening the next few nights with the Sox making the playoffs. Should be an epic matchup in the Bronx against the Yankees!

Draft Details​

The Draft is set for this coming Thursday, September 18th at Tekoa CC's 19th hole. The Captain's Packages have been delivered and those 4 will now pour over 13+ years of data to figure out what makes the most sense. As you all know, we've finalized at 32 players making 2 16-man teams once again. Handicaps are now listed in "More" section for this year. We all will have a Friday 'cap at 70% due to the Bramble format. Handicaps for Saturday/Sunday were determined by putting everyone's GHIN or League Index into a course handicap calculator to come up with final numbers. NOTE: your number will be a couple of strokes less than last year because I adjusted everyone 2 strokes to account for getting our low player to a 0 for ease of scoring. That's not necessary this year.

Modifications have been made to the Formats we'll play over the course of the weekend. At Dennis Highlands, our new course for Friday, we'll change the format to be Bramble Aggregate Match Play. Details are included in that Day's description on this website.
We'll move our Two Man Best Ball Match Play format to Saturday at Old Barnstable Golf Course. Sunday Singles matches will remain our last day competition at Bayberry Hills Golf Course.`

2025 Opening Statements

We're off an running with Golfapalooza XXIII! Planning has been ongoing for the past month, and now we get into the details. We had a great trip in 2024 culminating in All ABRD The A-Train holding off a game Bag Taggin' Putts squad by a final of 53-43. The A-Train led by 5 after Day 1 but the scrappy Putts guys won the Saturday Stableford action getting themselves within 4 going to Singles Matches. That's where The A-Train took control outscoring the Putts by 6 producing the final result...a 10 point win. Congratulations for the final time to the winning Captains, Aidan Dunn & Brett Dooley. Thanks and appreciation also go to Josh Balestracci and Jeremy Tanguay for their efforts with the Bag Taggin' boys. Four rookie Captains, and you never would've known it by the way these 4 led their squads.
Moving on to the 2025 event which is quickly approaching, I give you your Captains! We have:

Great work by our esteemed Captains last night! Solid intros by both sides, and sweet ball markers for the Idiots! Another successful draft has set us up for what should be another competitive and exciting weekend of Matches.
The Total Handicap spread by team is 23 which seems like a large number. In the 12 prior Tag chases, the team with the Low Team Handicap won 5 times (42%). More detail is visible on the "More" tab. Closing your HelpDesk ticket, Cloot.
Anyway, a good turnout for the Draft; thanks to all who were able to attend. Take a look at the grid and get to know your teammates.

We're set for the start of the Reveals! 1st Draft Choice (The Irish Village Idiots) will be first to reveal their 1st pairing. The Moostache's Men will then counter with their 1st pairing, then throw out their 2nd. This will continue on until all players have been used.
If you're interested, on the "More" tab, I've uploaded links of the transcripts of the Draft Reveals from the prior 2 years. Pretty funny stuff. For the 2023 version, you'll want to start at the end as it's in reverse order by pick.
